Trust Chain / Chain of Trust
Glossary Page
A method for validating the security and integrity of a computer system's components is known as the chain of trust. This system operates on the idea that if Component A deems Components B and C as trustworthy, then B and C will also consider each other to be secure. In a hierarchical setup, the root components vouch for the reliability of the elements below them. This concept is fundamental to SSL certification systems, where certification authorities validate the security of online resources.
