On Board Unit

On-Board-Units (OBU) are intelligent functional units integrated into motor vehicles. Their primary purpose is to automatically detect and process toll charges for distances covered during journeys. However, OBUs have versatile applications beyond this scope. They can be utilized for navigation, route planning, as well as for recording and storing vehicle diagnostic and emergency data. Moreover, OBUs facilitate seamless communication protocols, including Car-to-Car Communication (C2C), Car-to-Roadside Communication (C2R), and Car-to-Infrastructure Communication (C2I). In these setups, the On-Board-Unit establishes communication with the Roadside Units (RSU).
