Fork (GitHub)
Glossary Page
Anyone can start their own branch of a Git repository, also known as a "fork," as all public Git projects are licensed under an open-source license. This way, everyone can work independently on a project and create their own version before bringing it back into the original project by making a "pull request." Alternatively, one can distribute a standalone version of the project.
